Supporting Local News
As we explained in a recent editorial, paying salaries and benefits just for the reporters and editors who cover local news adds up to at least $250,000 a year. That doesn't include production, rent, printing, distribution, sales etc.
That's why we've started a special "Fund for Local Reporting." We're asking individual readers to contribute whatever amount they can afford. This fund will be used only to pay the direct cost of news reporting.
You have four ways to make a financial contribution:
1) Snail mail: cash, check or money order to:
Fund for Local Reporting
Berkeley Daily Planet
3023A Shattuck Avenue
Berkeley, CA, 94705
2) Phone: Call Terrence Nixon at 510-841-5600, ext. 117, and he'll take your credit card information.
3) Email: send a letter of authorization to tnixon@berkeleydailyplanet.com. You can include your credit card number, or ask Terrence to call you to take it over the phone.
4) Online (the easiest way):
